Ahhhhh. You guys. I needed to share this song with you. I’m obsessed. Just stop what you’re doing and dance around your apartment like me and we can have a virtual dance party. Hit replay and thank me later.
Hi. So you already know I’m obsessed with Miranda Lambert. And I have been since she opened for Keith Urban’s Days Go By Tour when I was 15. That concert was so amazing. From then on I was hooked and drawn to the adrenaline rush that listening to live brings. (I believe your first concert will always have a special place in your heart.)
Anyways, whenever I’m in a transition time in my life, my go-to song is “New Strings” by Miranda Lambert. Or if feel like blasting music with the windows rolled down so I can sing my heart out shamelessly, I put this one on too. Not many songs have been in my top five for a long, long time like this one. I go through phases with fave songs as I get older and my tastes change (which is a really, really good thing! Looking at you Clay Aiken, yikes!). I’m sure your tastes have evolved over the years too!
Music has something about it that I just absolutely love. Isn’t it funny when you hear an old song, and it brings you back to an exact moment of your past? So, who was your first concert? What are songs or artists that you lean on?
So I haven’t written in a week. That can’t be good, can it? Don’t real bloggers post every few days? I guess I haven’t figured out my frequency yet. I was hoping for 2-3 posts per week. I promise I’ll try to get the hang of this.
(If you despise country music, don’t continue reading. You’ll only get annoyed with me and I won’t be cool with that.) Last Friday night I went to the Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley concert. It. was. amazing. I don’t need to go on and on about it because it was one of those “you had to be there” kind of concerts (as most are). I loved it though. This was my third time seeing Miranda (technically fourth if you count when she opened for Keith Urban back in 2005, but I don’t count that!) and second time seeing Dierks. They both put on an unbelievable show. One minute I’d have the goosebumps, the next minute I was singing/shouting and dancing like a fool.
Miranda played “New Strings” which is my favorite song of hers. Actually, one of my favorite songs to exist. My favorite part of the song is cheesy but true, and applicable to a lot of things in life, “I guess if you don’t jump you’ll never know if you can fly.”
Don’t worry, this won’t be last time I’ll blog about country. Why? Because it’s the best. “It’s only about broken hearts and people who get drunk.” So, everything on Top 40 isn’t about the same thing? At least country isn’t auto-tuned. OK, I won’t continue my rant. I’ll devote another post to why I love country so much.
